The Career Coach, known at Abacus as the Supervisor of Employee Excellence will create and maintain a culture of professional excellence by guiding, coaching, and mentoring employees at all levels of career growth. He or she will collaborate with department supervisors and the Department of Employee Excellence to deliver plans for each employee, including clear conversations, productive accountability, and challenging, realistic goals.

Ensure the firm is obtaining the highest level of professional excellence from employees, through championing a value-added consultant mindset, which will positively impact our clients and the community.
Work closely with supervisors and the Department of Employee Excellence to develop and deliver programs and expectations around career development firm-wide.
Work one-on-one with professional staff to guide and coach them on excellence in their career, including delivering skilled growth-based guidance for short-term and long-term goals.
Actively seek information and learning on coaching and development of best practices for the accounting industry.
Manage, update, and follow-up on Career Lattices and Partner Tracks to ensure the best utilization firm-wide.
Develop a cohesive and intentional plan for employee engagement and support. Create goals and measurements of the plan to ensure success in creation, implementation, and follow-up.
Meet with employees and supervisors to review/approve Balanced Scorecards monthly.
Create a level of professional awareness and discipline that will increase opportunities for employees to excel
Ensure all staff receives the Abacus Experience internally as part of professional development interactions, creating an environment of growth, trust, and confidence.
Coordinate and oversee employee development programs and training in Culture Amp. Provide support for the Mentor and Buddy Programs, Lunch & Learns, Firm News, Continuing Education, and PASS Program.
Extremely Strong Coaching Skills. Must be able to speak and write to empower others and willing to have tough honest professional conversations.
Ethical Practice. Must understand the importance of anonymity in the accounting industry.
Business Acumen. Must practice basic leadership and professionalism standards in writing, conversation, and in community presence.
Critical Evaluation. Must seek improvement in everything accomplished.
Strategic thinking and visionary planning. Must be able to think through current and undeveloped projects and new ideas strategically and follow through on implementation.
Act as a champion for firm culture and growth mindset.
Able to work with little to no direction and comfortable in an environment with high expectations.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. He or she will have the Manager of Chaos as a supervisor.
Position Expectations & Work Environment
This is a full-time salaried exempt position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works normal office hours (with guilt-free flexibility). Some weeks over 40 hours will be required.
Location & Travel
Based in Springfield, MO, but also serve employees in Branson, Lee’s Summit, and those working remotely. Little to no travel is expected for this position.
Required Education & Experience
Minimum bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, English, Communications or a related field and 5+ years’ experience in employee development and coaching is preferred.
$50,000 to $65,000 Annually
